A couple with fertility problems have told how they finally fell pregnant after having adopted six children.
Christy, 34, and Sean Baxter, 40, from Valdosta in Georgia, longed for a big family, and started trying soon after they married in 2004. But when teacher Christy didn't fall pregnant, they learned she had polycystic ovary syndrome, which can restrict women's chances of conceiving naturally. The couple decided to adopt, and welcomed three sons and three daughters into their home over the space of just two years.
Just when they thought their brood was complete Christy, who was taking fertility medication, learned she was pregnant - and nine months later in 2013 they welcomed their fourth daughter and seventh child; Kinsley. The Baxters are now parents to Jacob, 16, Hunter, 15, Cassadie, 14, Michael, 13, Anna, 12, and their 'miracle baby' Kinsley, now four.
Christy said: 'I had always wanted a large family. I am from eight brother and sisters. So when we got married we started trying for a baby pretty quickly. After being unable to get pregnant for almost a year, we went to a fertility doctor.'
Christy was told she had polysictic ovary syndrome, prompting the couple to consider other options. We started to look into adoption and fostering,' Christy said. About a year later, we were matched with a little boy called Hunter and a little girl called Alexia. A few months later they were a part of our family. We were later matched with four siblings - Jacob was seven, Cassadie was four, Michael was three and Anna was two. We went from a family of two of us to eight in two years.'
Although they had adopted six children, Sean and Christy had not given up on ever falling pregnant. Sean and I decided to try fertility treatment,' said Christy. I was on a fertility medicine called Femara. Then for the first time, in almost ten years of trying, I was pregnant.
It had finally worked. I was hyperventilating, I was frozen, I was crying. ''Kinsley is now four and to us, she is perfect.'' she said.
